A Short Political Comment:
Lately, despite my annoyance of political arguments and long lasting debates, the clamor of competing voices has spured my thoughts further than a mundane attention to a lengthy internal debate.
This was my response to a Facebook post that prompted readers to question how to make drastic changes to our existing government.

"I truly do not believe we can make a lasting and profound difference in our government until we come to a strong, clear, general consensus on what our country really needs and wants, and be able to distinguish between the two.
We are all saying the exact same thing, that there needs to be a change in the government, but that's where the similarities end; we all have opinions and plans that conflict and contradict with the plan of the person sitting right next to us. No single legislative body (notice I didn't say person; it would truly take an entire body) can unite an entire country of people who are too caught up in controversy and debates to find a solution to the problems that breed the topics for the debates.
I almost guarantee if you look at every candidate you'll find something you dislike about them and their platform. Elections become a game of sacrifice when they're based off of wants, and our society can't stand to see their wants go unfulfilled. Even if you found a candidate who you did feel would do marvelously in office, there will be another person who thinks they're the worst choice on the ballot.
We as a an American people need to unite and find out what it is we need and place that idea on a mountain for all to see long before we get to any wants, or better yet can get rid of our selfishness for wants in the first place when it comes to politics. Stop listening to a man or woman who stands on a stage finally telling you what you want to hear. Stop thinking your idea alone can change the world if it can only catch fire.
So now the ultimate question...
What do we need people?
Do we need to fight over gun laws and snivel about what people want to do behind closed doors? If we do we are going to realize that the majority rule minority right thing leaves a lot of people with stepped on toes. Just because 51% of people want something doesn't mean it's the best for the whole. We won't agree on these issues.
Do we as an American people truly care more about these topics than the struggles our neighbors are facing everyday? Cops are getting shot, African Americans are getting blamed, women are unhappy with ideals they never feel they can live up to or change. We are a country founded under the principles God put in our hearts. Our founding fathers never said you had to follow God or even believe in him, but they believed that this country could make something of itself if we followed those principles. How hard is it to ask you to love your neighbor?
What does the majority want? What does the minority want? It doesn't matter in the slightest until we find out what America needs."
